I tried so many GIS applications on Ubuntu, but only these packages cover most of GIS applications, about 10 minutes depending on your internet connection and you can have a high-end GIS workstation built completely on Ubuntu. Here we go.

Yesterday, I decided to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my aspire one. First, I download the remix image located here to my 1 GB flash drive following the instruction from here.
