The default of Firefox on AspireOne is Firefox 2, and AA1 users need to update their firefox into firefox 3. The benefit of using an official release is also a working update feature, which is greyed out in the version already installed on the system. To run the terminal trough run program window just press “Alt+F2″.

I just bought a new netbook from Acer that’s called “AspireOne“. This laptop is small and cheap (only 980 QR or $269). The base AspireOne, which include an 8 GB SSD (not HDD) and linux, which is far under anything else that has Intel Atom Processor. The design is very sleek with softly rounded edges and smooth glossy surface.
Featuring an Intel Atom 1.6GHz, 8GB SSD flash drive and only 512MB of RAM. While this is not exactly enough to run Windows XP properly, it’s certainly adequate for the included custom distribution of Linux that this netbook runs. Windows XP versions will also be available, with up to 1GB of RAM, a 120GB HDD, and a six-cell battery, rather than the three-cell our model came with. Admittedly, the hard drive and larger battery do affect the One’s size and weight, upping its dimensions from 249 x 170 x 29mm (WxDxH) to 249 x 195 x 36mm and increasing the weight from just under a kilo to 1.26kg, but that’s unavoidable. This netbook also include internal webcam and 5 in 1 card reader.

Ubuntu 8.10 with codename “Interpid Ibex” has been officially released. Ubuntu 8.10 will be supported for 18 months on both desktops and servers. Users requiring a longer support lifetime may choose to continue using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS rather than upgrading to or installing 8.10. Anyway, congratulations to Mr. Mark Shuttleworth and all the Ubuntu team !.

Frenchman Bruno Metsu, 54, inked two years agreement with Qatar Football Association (QFA) and readily pledged to help the gulf state reach the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals to be held in South Africa. Yesterday, He was confirmed as Qatar’s new football coach following the exit of Jorge Fossati who failed to complete his contract due to health concerns. He quit his post of UAE coach last week after team choked in its two 2010 World Cup qualifying matches earlier this month. Metsu is the 12th coach contracted by QFA in the last dozen years.
